20th Century Club's.......Hope Ball......March12, 2011

I want to let all of you know about a wonderful charity I am supporting......the Hope Ball.

The 20th Century Club hosts the Hope Ball which raises funds to provide housing for cancer patients who are in Little Rock and need temporary housing during their treatments.

Each year about 1.4 million people will be diagnosed with cancer. Every one of us has been touched by cancer or has a close family member or friend who has battled cancer. Since Little Rock is home to a number of the nation's premier cancer treatment facilities, many Arkansans will travel to Little Rock for those treatments.

Since 1984, the 20th Century Club Lodge has provided housing for thousands of cancer patients. Currently, construction is underway on a new Lodge, scheduled to be completed this spring. It is located close to UAMS but will serve all healthcare institutions.

The mission of the 20th Century Club is to provide NO-COST temporary housing to cancer patients in need.

I have donated gift certificates for Juvederm and plan to attend the Hope Ball. If you would like to attend, or make a donation (personal or corporate), or would like to contribute an auction item please contact Mrs. Paula Gean at her office  501-379-7228. Her work e-mail address is pgean@arvest.com . You may also contact me, 501-228-6237, at Beautiful You or e-mail me Trussell42@gmail.com  and I can help you as well.

Please help me support the 20th Century's Club's ongoing mission to help these cancer patients in need by supporting the Hope Ball on March 12, 2011.  God Bless you all.

Happy New Year! January Newsletter!

2011 is here!! Hope all of you had a great Christmas and had quality time to relax with family and friends. I was blessed with a few days off, happy, healthy kids and my 20th anniversary. Thanks to your business, $548 is being donated to the Arkansas Food Bank which feeds 23,000 hungry Arkansans in 33 counties each week. You are very much appreciated!
Recently I've had a few people tell me that Botox doesn't work as well for them as it did a couple years ago. That can happen due to to antibody formation. Dysport is an alternative. It too is botulinum toxin-A.  Dysport can be a little more expensive and there is a little more volume injected than with Botox. Antibodies can form to Dysport as well. A new product, Xeomin, has been FDA approved in the U.S.  It lasts three and up to 6 months. Xeomin doesn't contain complexing proteins that induce neutralizing antibodies to the botulinum toxin.  Puretox is another botulinum toxin-A product expected to be FDA approved in 2011. Lastly, Myobloc can be used in Botox nonresponders. It is a type B botulinum toxin.
Have you ever thought about having a Botox party? We had lots of fun at the one I hosted in November. If you'd like to have one at your house or business, give us a call. It's a great way to enhance a Valentine party, jewelry party or a bachelorette party. I can even bring along some Juvederm to erase those deep smile lines and plump those lips a little.
The other thing I've been asked about a lot is dark circles under the eyes. What causes them and what can you do about them? It won't surprise you that the #1 cause is lack of sleep. The lack of sleep can also cause your upper eyelids to be a little puffy and cast a shadow under your eyes that make the circles look even darker. Another common cause is seasonal allergies. Nasal congestion dilates and darkens veins that drain from your eyes to your nose. Rubing your itchy allergy eyes also causes  puffiness. Other common cuases are lifestyle factors: smoking, excess alcohol intake and just plain old stress.  And with normal aging there is some loss of fat and collagen which makes the veins under the eyes more noticeable.
Before you try anything drastic like laser treatments,  permanent eye makeup that is tattooed on or a lot of fillers use a combination of some of the following to treat the problem. Cold tea bags placed on your eyes for 1/2 an hour or so at night will help with puffiness as will sleeping on a fluffier pillow or two pillows. In the morning use a good concealer. If your under eye circles look blue then use a peach color concealer NOT a grayish or white one. I personally use Jane Iredale's under eye concealer #1 (for fair skin). It has two shades in it, doesn't clog pores and doesn't make those funny undereye creases like some concealers do after a few hours. Obviously, try to get as much quality sleep as possible. A saline sinus wash or saline nasal spray helps keep sinus congestion to a minimum as will an antihistamine. However, antihistamines can make you fatigued so be careful which one you you take. Over the counter products that contain Brazilian suma, an herb, will help also. A few brands that contain Brazilian suma include Molton Brown, Armoise and Lluvail. They are very easy to purchase online and not too expensive.
Avoid products under the eye and on the eyelids that contain salicylic acid or glycolic acid because they can cause redness and swelling in this sensitive area. Finally, if you smoke, a good New Year's resolution is to quit.

December Newsletter

An early Merry Christmas to everyone! Hopefully you had some time off over Thanksgiving and were able to spend relaxed, quality time with family. Now it's time for the inevitable rush of Christmas decorating and shopping. At Beautiful You we can help you with the shopping part! Avoid the crowds and last minute shopping by giving gift certificates. It is still very personal; they can be used whenever the recipient wants; and they can use it on the services they want. We make things even easier by offering credit card payments over the phone in any denomination and then we'll mail the gift certificates to you or directly to that special someone. So call us today....501-228-6237
The Botox party on Nov 15th was a lot of fun!! Great food, great wine and especially great people to spend time with. Some people asked me about Dysport,  Radiesse and Restylane. Yes, I can do that for you, too. Let me know in advance if you KNOW that's what you want becuase I don't stock much of it. Most people get Botox and Juvederm. If you'd like to have your own Botox party, just let me know. A Christmas party or a jewelry party is a perfect setting setting for that. Plus, you can earn credits toward free Botox for yourself!`
Beautiful You is offering several specials this month. In December only, Botox is $2 off per unit and Juvederm is $20 off per syringe.
Also, I'll mention our bone density machine here. Bone densities, which screen for osteoporosis or evaluate the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment, are part of my routine internal medicine practice. I am offering them this month for $25 (cash, check or credit card). It only takes a few minutes, is completely painless, and you get a color report to take with you right then. If you are thin, postmenopausal OR have a family history of osteoporosis then you are increased risk. Men, too, get osteoporosis and are especially at high risk if they have low testosterone.
I want to wish all of you God's blessings this holiday season and into the New Year. To show my appreciation for all the blessings I've received, a portion of all sales at Beautiful You goes to the Arkansas Food Bank for Christmas. The Arkansas Food Bank serves 33 counties in Arkansas and feeds 24,000 hungry people each week. I'll update you on that next month.
Until then.....wishing you a more healthy and Beautiful You!

Overweight......Yuck!! You Don't have to Be!!

Overweight. Obese. Fluffy. Whatever you want to call it, it's not fun. It's frustrating in the morning tryng to fnd clothes. It's frustrating and disheartening in the summer trying to find a bathing suit. You re not alone, though. Did you know that 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese? It's not just our looks we need to worry about it. It's our health. The incidence of diabetes has risen 76% in the last 10 years. And besides the health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol that excess weight causes, it's darned expensive! Think about the copays to the doctors office; the copays for the medicine; the increased insurance rates. You CAN lose that weight and keep it off! I speak from personal experience. My youngest child is 10.... About 9 months ago I weighed 211 lbs. I am 5'6". That was not good. I felt awful and I felt like I looked awful. I decided I wasn't going to let food control my life. So I did three things and now I weigh 146 lbs. That's a 65 lb. weight loss! First...I shifted my calories to earlier in the day. I eat a grain cereal or grits in the morning. I eat what I want at lunch, and then I don't eat past 2 pm in the afternoon. With that said.....do I get hungry at night? NO! I have an appetite, but that is different from hunger. Most of us do not know what real hunger is. Quit eating your dainty salads at lunch because that won't hold you until the next morning. EAT LUNCH! We put our weight on at night. I know Americans have busy lives, and we eat late, skip breakfast, etc. etc., etc. It doesn't mean you have to. Your family can eat and you can sit with them. Alcoholics learn in their recovery process that they are going to be with people who drink and they can't. You have to learn to sit with people who are eating and not eat. Food is an addiction. One note of caution, if you are diabetic, obviously you need three meals a day, but you still can adjust your calories to earlier in the day.
Second thing I did.......became more active. I didn't go out an join a gym. As a matter of fact my treadmill is still in the garage. Find something you can do to exert yourself 4 times a week. I play Wii sports with my kids. I currently hold the ski jumping record and I am in second place in the hula hoop! With 4 kids that's what I have time to do. Turn off the TV and get off the couch or off the computer for 30 minutes. I don't care how tired you are, do something.

You wouldn't let another person control you like food and weight do, so get healthy AND more beautiful.

Beautiful You November Newsletter

Hi Everyone!
Yes. It's already November! 55 days until Christmas! In between now and then we still have Thanksgiving, decorating, baking, cooking, parties, traveling and shopping! I love shopping more than anyone, but I hate it at the holidays when there are so many crowds and I feel rushed to find something for everyone on my list. Ordering online helps some, but things stilll have to be wrapped, and there are those shipping costs! I have a solution........it's gift certificates! They are personal and show that you took the time to think about what she (or he) would enjoy. At Beautiful You we have gift certificates for every occasion, especially Christmas. You can buy them for any amount and we can even mail them for you. Beautiful You offers multiple services...Botox, Juvederm... The great thing is your wife, friend, sister, husband can choose what they want when they want. We offer free consults. With a gift certificate people can take advantage of sales and specials so your dollar winds up going farther. Come by our office or call us (501)228-6237. We take credit card payments by phone as well as in person.
For those who didn't get my eBlast...I am having a Botox party on Nov. 15th at my office. You can still reserve a spot. I have three left. The first 20 people to sign up get Botox at $9/unit that night. I will be happy to treat as many people as possible over 20 as I have time. Come join us for wine (or soft drinks) and hors d'ouevres at 6:00pm on November 15th.
Botox has multiple uses.....frown lines, crows feet, forehead wrinkles, bunny lines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under the arms, palms or soles of the feet) just to name a few. Results on the face last about 3 months. Treatments for hyperhidrosis last around 9 months.
Botox newest indication is for chronic migraines. It has been approved for years in Europe for migraines and used off label in the U.S. for awhile. As of October 15th though, it is FDA approved for use in the U.S. for chronic migraines. You can see the full press release at http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm229782.htm
Back to the holidays.......I know all you gals and guys want to look your best for family and friends. Not only do we offer Botox, but also Juvederm. Juvederm is a filler I can use to diminish those smile lines to make you look years younger and fill in acne scars to smooth out your complexion.
The holidays are always a time to remember our blessings and extend those to others. So between now and Christmas, a percentage of every Botox, or Juvederm treatment will go to the Arkansas Foodbank Network  http://www.arkansasfoodbank.org/ which is available in 33 Arkansas counties. They serve about 23,000 hungry Arkansans a week. I'll let you know the total in my January newsletter.
Until next month, I wish you a more healthy and Beautiful You!
